Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data North collects, why, where it is stored, and your rights over it. North is operated by Skia (Y-tunnus 3630616-7), a sole trader based in Finland. If you have questions about your data, contact hello@joelnorth.app.
This policy is written to comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

What data we collect and why
Payment data. When you buy North, payment is handled by Stripe. Stripe collects your card details, billing information, and the email address you enter at checkout. North never sees or stores your card number. We receive only confirmation that payment was completed and the email address you provided.
Account data. After payment you create an account with an email address and a password. This is stored in our database (Supabase, hosted in the EU, in Ireland). Your password is stored encrypted.
Your chapter answers. As you go through the five chapters, every answer you write or select is saved to the database as you progress. These answers are tied to your account and your goal. They are stored so that your reading can be generated and so you can return to your account and your past goals later.
Your reading. When you complete the five chapters, your answers are used to generate your personal reading. The reading is stored in the database, tied to your account, so you can return to it.
Boost readings (Feeling Stuck feature). If you request a boost reading, the note you write and your original reading are used to generate a response. The note and the response are stored in your account.
Technical data. Our hosting provider (Vercel) keeps server logs that may include your IP address and basic request information.
How your answers are processed to create your reading
North generates your reading using Anthropic's Claude AI. When you complete the chapters, your answers are sent to Anthropic as part of the request that produces your reading. We do not sell your answers, share them for advertising, or use them for any purpose other than generating and storing your reading. We do not use your answers to train AI models.
Legal basis for processing
- Contract: to deliver the product you paid for.
- Legitimate interest: to keep the service running securely.
- Consent: where you give it, for example consenting to immediate access at checkout.
Where your data is stored and international transfers
Your account data, answers, and readings are stored in Supabase, hosted in the EU (Ireland). Some services we use are based in the United States:
- Anthropic (United States): processes your answers to generate your reading.
- Stripe (United States): processes your payment.
- Vercel (United States): hosts the application.
How long we keep your data
We keep your account, answers, and readings for as long as your account exists. If you want your data deleted, email hello@joelnorth.app and we will delete it.
Your rights
Under GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict your data, and to receive it in a portable form. Email hello@joelnorth.app to use any of these rights. You also have the right to complain to the Finnish Data Protection Ombudsman.
Children
North is for adults only. You must be at least 18 to use it.
